Especially since the original invasion was gratuitous, an act of terror.
Anybody watch The Crusades on the History Channel? It brought home how
fundamentally nothing has changed in a thousand years, from the religious
fervor going into the campaigns by both sides to the Sunni/Shia lack of
political unity.
