Andreas: Oh, Eric... read the accounts of the USA's secret wars in Central America.

Eric: Why do I need to? A Brazilian friend lived through the dictatorship installed by the CIA there. I have listened to firsthand accounts of our actions there and throughout Latin and Central America. We have been unbelievably brutal in the name of the Cold War.

BUT YOU ARE MISSING MY POINT!

Except for the al-Qaeda sleepers on the list, we all deplore the terrorist attacks. But what will bashing Bush do? Nothing. What will bashing the US do? Nothing.

Unless there is widespread condemnation of terrorism throughout the Muslim world--amend that--throughout the entire world, the bombs will continue to go off, the US will continue to have justification for regime change and military intervention, and lots of innocent people will keep dying.

Break the cycle at the terrorism point. The US will never back off until that is done, and it's just pointless to assume otherwise. If anything, terrorism will only intensify US activities. Fuck the terrorists and then it will be easy to tame the US.

Eric
