Nah.  Some men desire to know.  Most are happy with their prejudices.  In fact, 
most are *threatened* with new information.  Case in point, the current return 
to the Dark Ages, rejection of Darwin, revival of religion with a vengence and 
on and on.  Bread and circuses is as much as most people want to know.  The 
invasion of Iraq (quite probably the defining act of the 21st century) was 
committed and was and is perpetuated in willful ignorance.

As far as knowledge being erotic, we need to define erotic.  Carnal knowledge 
is miniscule, virtually irrelevant "knowledge" paraded as wisdom (your average 
"maturation story" is virtually always about sexual maturity).  Miniscule, 
virtually irrelevant knowledge turned into obsession and tragedy.

Speaking of the Dark Ages, the History Channel is doing a special on the 
original Dark Ages this Sunday.  Can't wait.  Someday a successor of the 
History Channel will be running specials on the NeoDark Ages beginning in the 
21th century and lasting, let's see, how many centuries ...
