Dear Andy,
HEY! I don't think people are a bunch of zombies--you're the one who thinks
they are inherently evil! NOT me!

I was just trying to affirm that your viewpoint is a particular one which is
shared by many of those who do need G-d's nature to live internally within them
so that their nature will be changed into a nature which is one that you (or
anyone) would say is 'okay'. Coming from the point of view of man having an
evil nature but needing/finding a solution to have that changed so that they
can work through those pieces and become a People who 'do good'--well, the only
thing I will say is that it is a whole lot more positive than some points of
view. as they are at least working towards personal growth and development of
some sort--albeit through a rationalization. That's better than just jumping
off a cliff because one could not figure out any way to change oneself to stop
doing the evil which was reeking out and hurting others! I will grant that
point of view that much!

A.A. I admit that god's nature living internally with people is less
destructive than drugs. Unfortunately it works the same way as drugs. It's
palliative medicine at best. It changes nothing. Sometimes it's downright
destructive.

Though I don't agree with that point of view, I do not think of them as a bunch
of zombies -- or are you saying they are that way because they have an evil
nature?

A.A. They're zombies because they're drugged out on religion or some other
substance or activity.

What does puzzle me with your point of view is that if people are inherently
evil (as I hear you saying), how do you think they can possibly change to live
up to the standards that you think they ought to be living? Why do you
continue to hold People to a standard that you claim they could not ever even
come close to meeting?

A.A. People are inherently evil but they are also capable of abstract thought.
I think a lot of what passes for evil is just people bellowing out in pain,
lashing out, clutching at straws. Nowadays, Marlena, we have psychologists who
can help people find better ways of dealing with their, for lack of a better
word, issues, than beating somebody else up. Deaf children can't verbalize
"I'm angry at you" so they take a chair and throw it. That's humanity in a
nutshell. People can't verbalize what's bothering them so they lash out. They
turn to religion to get the soothing they never got from earthly idiots called
mothers and fathers. As long as they keep doing that, nothing will change.
Religion is not only an impediment to progress, it's a source of sibling
rivalry writ large, as each group proves that daddy loves them best. What we
do in families we do in the world. That can be changed, but only if humans
change it. Marlena, what would it take to convince you that g
od just doesn't give a hoot? Probably nothing would convince you. Crabs in a
bucket fear change above all things. And please don't take it personally.
Crabs in a bucket are at least 54% of the population of the U.S.
