No. I was merely encouraging people to spend 25 minutes listening to Bernard-Henri Levy on Google Talks. However, Levy does say something to the effect of: "as Leftists who value liberal democracy, even if we assume Bush is the worst US President, he is still, as a democrat rather than an authoritarian, to be preferred to Chavez."

Levy feels that those who, as you put it, "hold positions and sentiments that favour certain nations or states ... sometimes held in isolation of the realities" are betraying the core values of the Left. Admittedly these comments are offered as starting points for discussion.
