Not a bad poem, but I pretty much lost interest in politics since McCain didn't the nomination in 2001.

Love you,

Larry

A Piece of Judgment Day

Another judgment day begins as
They feebly march themselves
To their polls and machines,
Past my camera's eye.
Some wink, others frown.
Many appearing smug
Leaning on their canes
With clothes smelling
Of age and cats.
They look around as though
The rest are fools.

So few here
With youthful glow
And healthy hopes,
Not knowing that their absence
Could be the end
Of common dreams.

Thoughts overheard,
"Let's vote for the rich one,
He'll make us rich."
"No, let's vote for her,
She'll ward off enemies
With her steely eyes and
Husband's fame."
"I want to vote for the old dude"
Says the man-child,
"So war is put to end."

Watching each to the other
Grin, Mock, sneer or scold,
My camera records them all.
And truly they are
who they think I am
In this perfect mirror
Of words and time.
You are what you believe I am.
