I guess the Romans, being rather an intelligent lot, _did_ have something  (a 
word) for something like _female_ 'virtue'. I wouldn't think they did use  
'virtue' as applied to _women_ because it possibly did sound (to them) too much 
 
like 'vir' which _is_ 'male'. 
 
Perhaps I'm mistaken?
