Carol, you're a nice person, but your history is mostly your personal
opinions.

Let's take this example. Carol should know the facts. I've known about this
for years. It's easy to find out about this on the web.

The attack on the USS Liberty was intentional. Israel knew it was a US Navy
vessel. Israeli jets fired all of their rockets at the ship and then strafed
it. When they ran out of ammunition, three Israel gunboats sailed in and
began machinegunning what was left of the ship. The intention was to kill
everyone aboard and sink the ship.

The US covered it up.

Why did Israel try to destroy their own ally's ship? What was so important
that they would do this to their friend, ally, US protector, etc., as some
people describe the US/Israeli relationship?

Carol wonders if it was a greater cause?

Yes, indeed, it was for a greater cause.

At that moment, Israel was carrying out a massacre. At the town of el Arish,
some 1,000 Palestinians and Egyptian POWs were lined up and murdered. They
were forced to dig pits, and then they were lined up and executed.

The USS Liberty was a CIA ship and it was picking up the radio signals:
Israeli orders, questions, discussions, about the massacre. Israel was
committing a war crime. The orders were coming from the very top of Israel's
government, and the USA was recording the evidence.

And that had to be stopped, no matter what it may cost, even attacking a US
Navy vessel and murdering its crew. The evidence had to be destroyed.

The attack was not a mistake: Israel knew it was an American vessel and
debated this for six hours before it attacked. The attack was personally
ordered by Moshe Dayan.

That's a really great ally we have.

The entire Liberty incident is a disgrace to Israel, that did this, and the
US government, that covered it up.

So now you know, Carol, about Israel's attack on the USS Liberty and why it
happened.

yrs,
andreas
