I didn't quote the Pentagon. I didn't use their figures. I used the antiwar.com figures. They keep track of casualties by name. They seem more reliable than the other sites I looked at, but I never looked at the Pentagon site and so they never got a chance to trick me or lie to me. But even if it is 3600, this is an extremely low casualty rate for a major conflict -- amazing. I wonder how the 3600 compares to number of states-side soldiers and Marines who killed themselves driving drunk home from liberty during an equivalent period of time. The first site I cited in > my previous note on this subject also provided that information: Ha! You fell for it! Lied to by the Pentagon, and you believe them. You were tricked by the Pentagon. The Pentagon's "official" death toll for US military in Iraq stands at 2939 (today's count). Now add 600+ US soldiers in off-the-books operations. Many of these are Special Forces, etc. Their deaths are classified. The actual number isn't known. But it is greater than 600. The actual number is +3,600. yrs, andreas www.andreas.com ------------------------------------------------------------------ To change your Lit-Ideas settings (subscribe/unsub, vacation on/off, digest on/off), visit www.andreas.com/faq-lit-ideas.html
