You've got to feel sorry for the guy. His quaintly graying ponytail. His antique rhetoric. The quondam spirit of 68 stuff.
Here in the country I see it too. Go for a long walk and I'm bound to run into some guy from the Time Tunnel. Long greasy hair in a 70s-style cut, now gray, blue jeans and a blue jean jacket, giving off an odor of infrequent showering and stale Winstons ultralights. Guy probably drives an old Pinto littered with Frampton and Boston tapes. There's Ward Churchill without a place to lecture.
I'm interested in how people fall into their Time Tunnels. Maybe it's something out of _Faust_. You know, you have a really good five- or ten-year stretch of your life, and you want to stay there forever. Stay moment, thou art so fair! Soon you're thirty years behind current styles and attitudes, but it's just the way you do things. You push the Boston tapes onto the floor of your rattling car and drive on.
