                         SED LIBERA NOS A MALO

    "Lift together everyone,"

    Was whispered hoarsely;

    "Place the coffin on,

    And follow it in.

    I'll seat you near the front."

    "In nomine Patris,

    et Filii,

    et Spiritus Sancti."

    "Rescue his soul"

    [There souls]

    O Lord.

    May he

    [They]

    Rest in peace.

    Lord hear my prayer."

    [In sacerdotal vestments as at Mass,

    He will face the people,

    Offering it in the sight of the Most high]

    "Sed libera nos a malo.

    Amen."

    [Mine eyes are dimmed from looking on evil;

    Mine ears are deafened from hearing of bloodshed;

    My heart is numbed with thinking on evil.

    In the havoc of my transgression

    A whirlwind swallows me up.]
