Here's a German Web site that tracks Iranian repression. If
it seems full of unevenly spaced bullets, that's because
each of the indented items is a link to cataloged examples.
For example, if you were to click on "bullwhips" or "death
through torture," you'd get their catalog of "bullwhips" or
"death through torture" reports.
In the interest of fairness, we should consider these
reports alongside the musings of the Iranian Studies prof
over at Columbia.
__________
Iran - past, present and future >> DEMOCRACY FOR IRAN
The Iranian regime is a brutal dictatorship which has
suppressed all democratic rights during the last 25 years.
It has attacked the vast majority of the Iranian population
and consistently violated their rights with impunity. The
main target of the assaults have shifted as the threat (or
the perceived threat) to the regime has changed. Whether as
principal, or lesser, opponents and dissenters the following
groups have all been attacked throughout the reign of the
mullahs, although with varying intensity:
Workers, trade unionists, left-wing and socialist
activists;
women and women's/feminist groups;
national and religious minorities;
political oppositionists, including various monarchist,
Islamic and liberal groups;
writers, journalists, artists, intellectuals and students;
peasants and tribal groups;
homosexuals and others who follow an "un-Islamic"
life-style.
The above groups cover the greater majority of the
population of Iran and they have been under constant
pressure and harassment, including hundreds of thousands
arrests and tens of thousands of extra-judicial executions.
Tens of thousands are still in prison, including many who
have completed their sentences.
Lets summarize some facts:
The Mullah-Dictatorship...
is the terror-sponsor no. 1 (they support and work with
terrorist groups worldwide).
terrorizes the Iranian population and other human
nation- and worldwide.
has killed more than 200,000 Iranian-people since 1979.
Since 1979 the brutal dictatorship reign...
the poverty (2/3 of the Iranian population live under
the subsistence level),
the crime,
the bureaucratic inefficiency
the illiteratism
the lack of education and
the environmental destruction
...have increased rapidly.
Further in marked contrast to the Iran till 1979 the women
now have no rights and are separated from male in school, at
work and at the publicly society…
Every demonstration against the Terror-Regime will be beat
up bloody; death is the steady threat for the demonstrators.
•Every criticism against the Mullah-Terrorism-Regime,
whether in which way or wise, will be punished brutally:
jail,
stoning,
torture,
death through torture,
hanging,
bullwhips and
...
The people of Iran want freedom to move, to breathe, to
laugh, to interact, to love, to hear music, to see color, to
enjoy beauty, to experience life. They want freedom to live.
Freedom begins when a man or woman enjoys rights, because he
or she is an individual, a human being. This regime abhors
freedom. This regime insists that by law all rights are its
alone to give, and it confers what it pleases to give as
privilege. This impulse to confine goes against the human
grain and leads to tension and rage.
