*a fee*?!  I pay a fee of £98 (approx.) to get all my prescribed stuff free

and the doctor's charges Carol gave are staggering. If I get too irritated with 
my GPs but don't want the hassle of trying to move to a new practice that's as 
near my house as they are, I can see the only private GP in Cardiff for less 
than that. (Admittedly she and her partners offer a somewhat limited service, 
they can because they know their patients can and will use their NHS GPs too.)

and an important part of "the US" has convinced many there, too many, that 
"socialized medicine" is the road to serfdom.
