A PARTING POEM
Whose manuscript this is I know.
Alas, it's still not finished though,
And ne'er will be if I stay here,
These words all melt like Southern snow.
My friends must think it mighty queer
To write and write with no end near,
To write as though I could not slake
A thirst for words I love so dear.
They give their heads a woeful shake
Are glad that they're not my mistake.
They say it's time for a clean sweep:
