deliberately disingenuous. After hearing of students assaulting the
arab cafeteria workers at my university, in the week following 9/11, all
four of my classes were delivered the sternest lecture by me forbidding
such behaviour. Even now, thirty some odd years later, it's difficult
for me to believe that anyone would have stayed Belleville citizen's mob
violence -- had anyone truly chosen to attack the few Jews who lived
there...
I think by now you know
how I feel about humanity and about religion. The two can be a lethal
combination, and I can see how you can be traumatized, as far as I can see,
there's no real anti-Semitism in the U.S. Religion is so extremely popular
no matter where one goes. I don't get it, but that's just me I guess.
**Must be nice to live in your cocoon. However, anti-Semitism is
unfortunately still alive and well -- rearing its ugly head -- not too
long ago, here in Chatham.

**No longer recall the names of the streets (haven't been back there
since 1976, except to take my wife to Nanina's in the Park, one evening
for dinner) -- but the two signs that come to mind were a block or so
from the gas stations in town... A few people had the same signs taped
to the windows of their cars -- noticed while waiting on those
interminably long lines -- at the same gas stations.
