In other words, the West was wrong when it assumed
the Muslim world would not have to repeat the
Hundred Year's War, the Thirty Year's War, and the
birth of the modern state. But who will be the
Muslim Cardinal Richelieu? And why does this
primitive game have to be played out in the age of
nukes, anthrax, and aflatoxin? Can't the Muslim
world just skip the theocratic error and move into
the postindustrial world? The West has already
done it for them. It's not oppression so much as a
chance to leapfrog.
