I wondered why your most recent comment over on Theoria didn't make any sense and now I see why. You referred to a comment you mistakenly posted on Lit-Ideas and then followed it up over on Theoria. No great loss as far as I can see because this one goes off on an illogical tangent. Are you the same person I thought logical the other day? Did you read the part that Bush said on television right after 9/11 that they were going to be going after terrorist financing? And have you read Ron Susskind's book? Too treasonous for you? Once again, BUSH HIMSELF SAID RIGHT AFTER 9/11 that they were going to be going after terrorist financing. Where is the treason? Silencing the press at all costs, that's what you want. Why don't you just say so? Read Susskind's book (which you are too cowardly to do) and then talk to me about this war, which btw your great grandchildren will be fighting, without the freedom of the press that you took away from them. ----- Original Message ----- From: Lawrence <mailto:lawrencehelm@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Helm To: aamago@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: 7/4/2006 2:24:26 PM Subject: RE: [THEORIA] Treason trials for the NY Times & WAPO Right on cue, Irene, you want to infringe the 2nd amendment in a discussion about the 1st amendment protecting treasonous behavior. Right after Larry says hed rather a few Americans were killed by the enemy than infringe the 1st amendment, you want the 2nd amendment infringed and the guns of citizens registered. You imply that only the gun industry is opposed to that. No, Irene, the bulk of Americans want to retain the right of self-defense and dont want the government or anyone else messing with that right. How about registering every person who gives aid and comfort to the enemy? -- Make them get a license for that -- have them fill out questionnaires and get written approval before they can verbally support the enemy. Bush himself said they were going after terrorist financing right after 9/11. It's just another recycled "news" story like all the others, the way they recycle movies and fashions. Flash! Low Carb Diets [Cause Weight Loss/Cause Weight Gain]. Flash! [BBC headline this month that gayness is biological, first printed in the Atlantic Monthly in 1997] etc. etc. Flash! U.S. Government Tracking Terrorist Finances, as Promised by Bush on Television 5 Years Ago! The NYT doesn't want to work itself too hard, so it recycles Bush's own words from public addresses from 2001 and calls it news, and the conservatives get all excited about it. All this focusing on "treason" and flag burning (for a flag not even made in this country) and gay rights, all these t rivial issues and nonissues has to be a way of taking attention away from insurmountable issues , like having no borders and no money and an unwinnable war. Absolutely nobody is stepping up to the plate to address these things. Instead they turn old news into treason. Anybody read Ron Susskind's book, The One Percent Doctrine? Really frightening stuff. Much better to say Susskind is peddling treason and then focus on anti-flag burning amendments. I guess rampant gun violence is happening because the 2nd Amendment is being suppressed. I heard a discussion that the reason the gun industry is against registration of guns, which ultimately ties the hands of law enforcement, is so that guns can't be traced back to the manufacturers and the manufacturers can't be sued. Like pharma, the gun industry is out to make money at all costs. The U.S. is the world's #1 gun exporter. Bad guys inside the country, bad guys outside the country, we'll arm them all, as long as they'll pay and there are no consequences for the seller. Military Keynesianism, that's what the Founding Fathers had in mind when they wrote the Constitution. ----- Original Message ----- From: Lawrence <mailto:lawrencehelm@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Helm To: THEORIA@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: 7/4/2006 11:11:37 AM Subject: Re: [THEORIA] Treason trials for the NY Times & WAPO Its too bad that the 2nd Amendment isnt given the same indulgence as the 1st. Then, perhaps, we could defend ourselves against traitors who were tipping off the enemy as to our tactics. Lawrence
