Plus a great stretch with shoulder rolls for folks watching the lawn sharpen the push-mower, or hearing the rustle of apple trees pruning themselves. The annoying parrot, always a stickler for grammar, receives periodic death threats from the family, but is well nigh used to it by now.

Nor should deep space be off base for the biot. Freeman Dyson -- at least I think it was he -- imagined scientists using bio-engineered space creatures to survey the galaxy for us and report back. Space butterflies, he may have called them.
