Which got me thinking ....
I've just this morning been watching the 'Inspector Lewis' television
series; particularly the episode entitled "Whom The Gods Would Destroy".
"They first make mad," immediately comes to mind (and eventually into
the dialogue in that particular episode).
But - "they first make happy" has more than a certain plausibility to
it, doesn't it; gives that knife going in a real twist ....
