half way up the pass
while we were hiking
with soft rush a fog doubled in
obliterating us, white geese, the black Cullins

all sound but for the trickle and fall of water
cutting its declivities
all views but for our hands
suddenly went

quite blind, we turned around, groped our way down
I recall no fear, not a mournful or sentimental word
just a thoroughly wet and lovely form of happiness
over the sea on Skye
