As a PR stunt, Maxim (the magazine, not the computer chip company) beat KFC on this one. They did this back in April.

But this is just PR hype.

There are plenty of brands and logos that have long been visible to satellites. Many corps have their logo painted on the roof of their building. Practically every football stadium has the logo painted in the middle of the football field. Airports also have logos or names on the runway.

Try Google Earth. Its a free download. You can zoom in and easily see people. Downtown Las Vegas is available in very high resolution; you can see people around the pool, on sidewalks, in parking lots, and so on.
