Eric :Poor dears, so barbaric and angry. Unfair to them and us. Same standard

for all groups is recommended: anti-Muslim hate crime = anti-Christian
hate crime = anti-secularist hate crime.

Agreed. And Lawrence is right that some of our TV producers and authors allow themselves to be intimidated by death threats. And the biggest mistake was the cowardly response to the fatwa issued against Salman Rushdie. And the cowardly way the writers' union reacted.

A few years ago, the city of Detroit prohibited a performance by M and M. Case went to court, city lost, had to pay quite a bit of money as restitution to the performer. The next week there was a letter by the imam from the mosque in Dearborn that it's an outrage that the city had to pay and banning the performance was correct. That was another chance for Muslim education that passed by. The educators ought to have been the local clergy of other faiths.

And double-plied as in double standards.

The non-Muslim world gets mafia-style death contracts on writers and cartoonists, murdered missionaries, foreign workers jailed for home Bible study in Saudi Arabia, but are supposed to take a high road of compassion for the enraged Other.

The Muslim world gets the publication in English of non-Orthodox novels, a few cartoons, some Bible thumper in the sticks wanting to burn a Koran, but they are fully authorized to rampage like spoiled demon children over every perceived abuse.

Poor dears, so barbaric and angry. Unfair to them and us. Same standard for all groups is recommended: anti-Muslim hate crime = anti-Christian hate crime = anti-secularist hate crime.
