J. Krueger was mentioning Hornsby. From wiki:

"After a short break, Gough returned to score the film adaptation of Nick
Hornby's novel About a Boy. Impressed by his past work, the Weitz brothers
asked Gough to score the film, a task which he undertook alone. Three
singles from the album were released over the course of 2002." Interesting.
Did
not see the film, though and can't say if the music is moving.

"High Fidelity—his second book and first novel—was published in 1995. The
novel, about a neurotic record collector and his failed relationships, was
adapted into a 2000 film starring John Cusack and a Broadway musical in
2006." Plot reminds me, mutatis mutandis, with D. Potter's Pennies from
Heaven, BBC serial with Bob Hoskins and Gemma Craven about a neurotic record
SELLER and his failed relationships. Potter was obsessed with obsession: he
has
another play with Iam Holm about a neurotic AL BOWLLY record collector --
for television only, but Kennith Trodd was kind to let me see it privately!

Of "About a boy"
"Hugh Grant and Nicholas Hoult starred in the 2002 film version." I've just
seen a grownup Nicholas Hoult who co-stars with Matthew Goode and Colin
Firth in the adaptation of Isherwood's A Single Man. Like this Californian
accent, totally faked seeing that he is from the north of England, I think.

"In 2010 Hornby himself adapted An Education for the screen, a feature film
starring Peter Sarsgaard and Carey Mulligan." which I SHOULD see.

Would be interesting to see what titles he covers in his songbook.
