I'm slow; I don't understand why a new source of patterned data implies that we can abandon the task of deciphering what those patterns mean. Would it be right to draw analogy between Google's sampling or scooping and Victorian collectors, whose bulging drawers of dead stuff in Natural History museums some people are still trying to understand?
