A Friend Recommends A Page From The OnionFor some reason (stupidity?) it took me a minute to realize that "U.S." was 'us' -- as in "us against them". Clever as the article is, what fascinated me was that once I saw "U.S." as 'us', the word 'us' suddenly seemed bizarrely meaningless -- like when you're a kid and repeat a word over and over to yourself until it becomes totally meaningless -- I hope I'm not the only one who's done this -- naw, we're all cut from the same cloth. Language is such a sweet, gift, so tenuous, so explosive, so soul-wrenching and so wonderfully playful. I'm so glad I'm not a cat.
