Mike, I suspect you are worried that Bush might come after you for
Bush-bashing. Setting aside the question of whether he ought to come after
you, I don't think he will. I think those innocent detainees have stories
similar to the following:
1. No, I didn't even know it was a stinger missile. Ahmed just asked
me to hold it while he went behind a sand dune to take a leak.
2. Honest, my wife is a real tiger and she saw this magazine, see, with
this great big lawn, and do you have any idea how much liquid fertilizer it
takes to grow a lawn on sand?
3. Yeah, maybe it sounded a little like I was plotting to blow up some
tunnels, but I was just mad, see, cause I was asking my cousin Nasser
directions and he was teasing me, see, just pretending stuff. I was never
going to blow anything up. I don't even know how to blow anything up. Ask
my cousin.
4. Well my donkey wandered off, see, and I was looking for him, and the
next thing I know some rockets are exploding all around me, see; so I ran
into this cave. I mean I thought I was going to get killed, and there was
this cave right there so I ran in. What's wrong with that? And there were
these guys already in there, but I didn't know them and they didn't know me.
Now you tell me this was an Al Quaeda cave and they were Al Quaeda members,
but I didn't know anything about that. I swear. I was just looking for my
donkey.
Do you know where your donkey is?

I wonder what you would think -- because you couldn't DO anything about it
-- if the Stasi boys came and disappeared you to Bagram? No one would ever
know. Ya gotta love that George Bush, he's all American. Other than that
time when America was at war in Vietnam and his daddy got him in the Air
National Guard so he wouldn't have to serve and he wouldn't show up for
training execises and wouldn't take a physical that might implicate him in
drug usage -- other than that, he's a great American hero and deserves our
respect.
