It's raining once again in Oregon, so here is news from the world of sports as
described by the BBC. Nottingham Forest have appointed Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink
as their coach. Wycombe Wanderers's boss is still Gary Waddock. Jack Laughter
is competing in the World 3m springboard final. Yesterday evening Manchester
United beat the Seattle Sounders 7-0; West Bromwich Albion beat the Portland
Timbers 3-2. Just before lunch at Lords, Alistair Cook was trapped lbw by
Zaheer Kahn, which left England 43-1. Arsenal are still trying to buy a
defender. The first trucks of sand have been delivered to Horse Guards Parade
for the beach volleyball test event. Altogether 2,310,490 kg are expected.
Phillips Idowu says he won't talk to Charles van Commenee again until he
publicly apologises to him over the Twitter row. Rain stopped play after tea
in the first Test (hint: this ref. is not to beach volleyball, World
springboard or Arsenal's renewed hunt for silver). Ahead of his Diamond League
meeting, Usain Bolt says he will run in Daegu, but won't be break his world
record. N'Zogbia's boss, Roberto Martinez, says the striker is not on strike.

Carry on.
