Has anyone read anything--in the Journal of Higher Ed maybe?--on the problems that human genome sequencing might create for those who want to base the awarding scholarships on racial characteristics rather than financial need? America, with its vestiges of the "one drop of blood" test, seems particularly vulnerable to a claim, "my ancestors came from eastern Africa," which would be true for every applicant.
