After the Storm

A bolt of lightning struck my trunk.
My left cufflink, made out of stainless steel,
Is a molten lump, and my head's a-peal,
Like it's Sunday morning, and me still drunk.

Doctor Berninger said on the subject,
In unkind words, elliptical,
I find your lightning bolt story suspect,
But the bells are typical.
