>>Arsenal have just recently lost to Barcelona.

I know soccer as well as I know cricket or baseball.

Is this a bad thing?

The lack of knowledge is only 'bad' in its relation to cricket. It marks a deficiency of civility. Regarding whether Arsenal losing to Barcelona is a 'bad thing', it entirely depends on which team you support. A Spurs fan, for example, would relish the result.

Would it be worse than a loss to France?

For an Arsenal fan probably, considering the match was the European Cup Final. However, a loss to France wouldn't be nearly so traumatic as a loss to Germany or Argentina. Conversely, a loss to Brazil, providing it was close, would be heroic. Of course, all this assumes that it's England playing. If it were Scotland, the mere fact that a match against any of these teams was taking place would be sufficient for a celebration; a win would just be unbelievable.

Plus, are the Argies really the brutal and violent players they are reputed to be?

Without doubt; they don't play cricket.

Simon
