Dr. Palma: Can anybody quote a scientist who claims
that science gives me the best (??) and "most
significant" (???) access to myself?

IF you consider Francis Bacon a scientist, or
proto-scientist, there's his essay "Of Studies":

"Histories make men wise; poets, witty; the
mathematics, subtile; natural philosophy [science(?) -
EY], deep; moral, grave; logic and rhetoric, able to
contend."
