Robert: . . . does your friend belong to the AMA?

Eric: Yes, an MD who works at an FQHC (federally qualified healthcare center) treating indigent patients, though recently offered a job at the Harvard Medical Center in Boston. Besides being listed in "America's Top Physicians," my friend was top of class in residency. Like many AMA members, my friend opposes the Obamacare plan as currently drafted, though the AMA supports it "in principle." The pharmaceutical companies love it and potential insurers like AARP love it (because of medicare cuts). My friend opposes it simply because it is too corrupt as currently written. The AMA has had to backpedal its support because too many of its members oppose the potential for massive corruption. My friend believes the current draft of the plan will kill a lot more people than does under-insurance. I accept that opinion as having some authority and have no qualification to advance one of my own.

However, one thing I've learned about medicine is that doctors' salaries -- if looked at on an hourly basis -- are usually less than $30 per hour. Proud socialist Mike Geary undoubtedly pulls down a higher hourly wage.

>> "Simply put, I've never seen tie-in merchandising for a President three months into his first term. Have you?"

Robert: I really don't know what the hell you're talking about--I may just be too dense. But who in the world bases their views on Obama . . . ?

My bullshit detector goes off when I see loads of tie-in merchandising for a President three months into his first term. Doesn't yours? If not, why not?

Eric
