>>WHY don't the news people report more "good"
stories?
You've never heard of "If it bleeds, it leads"?
Why is the _Inferno_ more popular than the
_Paradiso_? Why is the criticism of _The Duino
Elegies_ so much longer than the elegies
themselves? Why is it easier to blame than to praise?
And yes, IMHO, there is also a desire to keep
people in adrenaline overdrive, but it's not in
particular service to the Bushistas, it's in
service to ratings. TV Weather, for example, is
full of "granny alerts" -- winter weather
advisory: it will be windy and cold today --
giving the impression that people will immediately
die if they go outside. Stay tuned for more about
the dangerous windy and cold conditions!
