Anime (Japanese animated cartoons) and manga (Japanese comic books) are
wildly popular in the US among kids and teens. Adults are barely aware of
this, if at all.
Watch an anime movie, such as movies by Miyazaki. These are like fantasty
daydreams. It's not like an American movie. There's no clear white hat /
black hat. There are usually a cast of characters, and they all interact
with each other; and the heros sometimes do bad things (or things that have
bad consequences) and evil characters do nice things. Animals change their
shape and do all sorts of things, such as bake neko (magical cats).
