As a matter of fact I discussed all these matters at great length. You must
have evaded my long notes.

The most significant point in regard to Jihadism and Moderation is THAT THERE
IS NO SIGNIFICANT MODERATE ISLAMIC MOVEMENT STANDING IN OPPOSITION TO EXTREMISM
IN THE MIDDLE EAST. Sure there is opposition elsewhere -- in the US for
example, but so what. What effect do the moderate writers and speakers have on
the Middle East, the source of the world's problems? None.

And you are evading the point that your vaunted Indonesian moderation IS NOT
HOLDING OUT EFFECTIVELY AGAINST EXTREMISM! They are losing ground.

In fact I wrote that I am well aware of the risks. I know the dangers
of where I am going better than you do. What I wrote, and the point
Lawrence continues to evade, is that there is a significant moderate
Islamic movement standing in opposition to extremism. I realize that
this disrupts Lawrence's easy caricature of Islam as extremist, but
reality is rarely so easily portrayed.
