I thought at first you were referring to the Lars Vilks cartoon I mentioned in
two (now three) notes. "Vilks's inspiration for the cartoon sprang from a
local art phenomenon and his artistic desire to engage his audience by shocking
or even enraging them. In the cartoon, Vilks refers to Muhammad as a
'roundabout dog,' which is a reference to homemade statues of dogs placed in
many of Sweden's roundabouts or rotaries." I think Vilks was suggesting that
Swedes are taking in the incursion of Islam much as they do these dog statues
-- treating it as a harmless pleasantry. Alas for Lars! Al Quaeda and other
Islamic Fundamentalist groups didn't think it was funny:
http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/A292DF39-683D-491D-ADC2-D67EAEC508A7.htm
and placed a $100,000 bounty on his head http://www.thelocal.se/8507/20070916/

But the Leftists of Lit-Ideas, walking-dog typicals as they are, persist in
attacking and opposing an agency whose express duty in Iraq is to prevent these
Fundamentalist walking-dogs from killing our State Department representatives.
And they have nary a word of criticism toward the heinous theological position
that puts bounties on the heads of cartoonist who offend them -- or as the more
"peaceable" Islamists propose, to strike Volvo until Sweden, the editor of the
cartoon, and the cartoonist get down on their knees and apologize.

By the way, is the US embassy spokeswoman, Miremebe Nantonga referred to in the
AFP article, the same Mirembe who used to be on Lit Ideas and Phil-Lit and with

but could it have been politics or the military? Could Mirembe have been a
typical Lit-Ideas/Phil-Lit member, i.e., a Leftist? If so, what is she doing
in the hated State Department, and Mike, what is she doing defending
Blackwater? Did she succumb to filthy lucre? Or is she operating out of
principle?

Oh look, there goes a "typical" dog, four legs and a tail.

Yes Mirembe used to be active on this list. She is a career member of the
diplomatic service. People wanting to make contact with her can do so through
the Bagdad embassy website.
