It has just been announced on the 10 p.m. news that Mounir el Motassadeq has been taken into custody by the police. His family has left the country, and apparently this, coupled with the court ruling yesterday, gave the 'powers-that-be' sufficient reason to rate the likelihood of his fleeing high enough to order him to be taken into custody.

He is likely to be sentenced to the highest possible prison term for accesory to murder - 15 years.

What would the sentence be should he be convicted in the U.S. - and why has the U.S. not requested his extradition?
