Too bad that the American people can be scared time and time again by
the "people dying on the waiting list" bogeyman. You keep letting those
who can afford adequate insurance and those who profit from all the
inadequate insurance make that decision. When is the U.S. going to join
the developed world?
It's not like you don't have socialism already. But you only have it
where lack of it hurts those in power. There was a time when the fire
engines only responded if you had fire insurance, but the MAN eventually
saw that HE was better off if your house wasn't allowed to set the
neighbourhood on fire. Voila...socialized fire protection. When the
street urchins (aka street Arabs) grew too great in numbers and
nuisance, voila...socialized education.
But what can you do in a country where 'liberal' is a political
pejorative (except when used by LH as in "liberal democracy').
