Yes, it SHOULD be, "I too". Actually, "Also I". "Too" is merely  
implicatural (emphatic), 'also' isn't.
 
E.g. 
 
If you say:

Susan is a virgin.
Patricia is a virgin, too.
 
Would you say that, on finding that Susan is NOT a virgin, (b) becomes  
false?
 
where (b) is
 
"Patricia is a virgin, too".
 
No. "Patricia is a virgin, too", remains TRUE if she IS a virgin, even if  
Susan isn't. The 'too' is immaterial to the truth-conditions of the  
statement.

"Also" is another animal.
