David Ritchie asked if I enjoyed McCarthy's Bar -- a book I bought on his
recommendation. Yes, I did, very much so. It was off-beat and entertaining
and informative and interesting. But I think my favorite travel writer is Pico
Iyer. The only book I've read of his is "Video Night in Kathmandu" --
immensely fun reading, a strange and witty writer.
