ER&P works in such areas as: pervasive computing (architecture, tools, mobile devices, robotics, gaming, search), computational sciences (bioinformatics, eScience), digital inclusion (appropriate, accessible, relevant applications); and, technology solutions for teaching and learning (collaboration platforms, Tablet-based computing)

ER&P is looking for the right person to work at the direction of the LATAM Senior Program Manager to supervise the technical aspects of research projects in the portfolio of programs designed for the Latin American academic research community in computing-related fields. Primary responsibilities are focused on working with higher education faculty members.

You will be responsible for supporting the academic Principle Investigators (PIs) in the LATAM region by: assisting in the analysis, design, and implementation of projects supported through Microsoft’s research collaboration federations. You will assist driving quality outcomes working closely with a diverse group of people both within the ER&P organization and with external stakeholders.

The successful candidate must have: excellent cross-group collaboration, virtual-teaming, and strong communication (written and verbal) skills. LATAM travel is required. Bi-lingual skills in Spanish or Portuguese are preferred.

Core competencies include:
· Experience in academic research projects.
· A strong technical background with a specific emphasis with one or more of the following; mobility, embedded computing, web services, networks, programming, databases. · The ideal candidate will have demonstrated proficiency in SQL Server, C#, C++, VB, XML, and .NET, coupled with a passion for providing excellent support of academic research projects.
- A PhD degree in a technical field is required.
- This position is based in Redmond, WA but there will be travel to LatAm.
