I highly recommend Jim Carroll's book Basketball Diaries. It's bleak and disturbing, but contains some searing, eye-widening writing. You'll hear "People Who Died" (one of my favorites, too) with different ears after reading it, Donal. I guess it wasn’t too soon to ask him what he wants carved on his tomb. RIP, Jim. -Wm.
