Simon: In short, 9/11 has enabled the Bush administration to advance its own agenda to a degree that wouldn't have been possible without it.

Is it any wonder...

Eric: Hi, Simon! Isn't that the post hoc ergo prompter hoc fallacy?

One could say the Iran Hostage Crisis put Reagan/Bush in office, gave Bush the presidency, that Gulf War I enabled the West to shut down Saddam, gave the US an excuse to put Infidel boots on sacred sand, and supplied al-Qaeda with justification to kill civilians. And so the real cause of 9/11 was the Iran Hostage Crisis.

But wait! There's the overthrow of the Shah of Iran. But wait again! There's the overthrow of Dr. Mohammad Mossadegh's regime by the CIA.

But wait yet again! There's the Soviet puppet government (represented by Dr. Mohammad Mossadegh) that caused the CIA to overthrow it.

And again! There's the Tehran Conference in World War II, where Stalin tacitly acknowledged Iran as a puppet state of the USSR.

So Stalin caused 9/11. But wait...Trotsky, Lenin, the Tsars...Alexander Nevsky. Yeah Nevsky...who defeated the Teutonic Knights. Nevsky = 9/11.

Conspiracies start wherever one decides to start.
