In this article, Patrick Poole describes his doubts about Ramadan's
moderation. They are similar to those I had about the Egyptian "moderates"
praised by Raymond William Baker. The goals of these "moderates" aren't
markedly different from those of the Islamists. They do advocate
non-violent means to achieve them, but at the same time they understand
those using violent means and blame the West for provoking them.

Ramadan is described as Europe's most outspoken Muslim and a self-proclaimed
moderate. He classifies opposition to him, including America's refusal to
give him a Visa to the U.S. to assume a teaching position at Notre Dame, as
Islamophobia.
