This evening, I was at the Swiss Consulate in San Francisco. They held
a reception for scientists and researchers from Stanford Linear
Accelerator (SLAC) and UC Berkeley's Fermi Laboratories to celebrate
the startup of the LHC in Switzerland. About 100 people, incl. live
video hookup from CERN. Very festive atmosphere; many have worked on
this for years.
