What's the best way to measure 'motivation' if one of your goals is to 'motivate those who work for you'?

Best way to motivate staff is by personal example. Work hard, avoid creating a
"classist" atmosphere, explain purpose of different tasks, and have fun.

Staff morale, or "fun level" is therefore the best way to measure this motivation.

PS: I ran a bookstore and produced a public TV
show with author interviews, comedy, and book
reviews. Everyone got to be on the show and review
books that interested them. During _The Satanic
Verses_ scandal, my assistant manager did a
stellar job of portraying the Ayatollah
Khomeini--performed in a flawless Andy
Rooney voice. ("Did you ever notice how
fundamentalist revolutions offend people?") Have
placed far too many photos on the blog, but later
could post a photo of interviewing Bobbie Ann
Mason (in the bookstore) for the TV show.
