Some time ago I promised to write something to this list about 'the Nazi Heidegger', and haven't known where to begin. Oddly enough, I will begin with some comment on this review of a biography of Walter Benjamin. One of the reasons that this is taking me so long is that much of the material I rely on is in German - this requires me to translate passages for the list. (At this point I will reiterate earlier statements about the unreliability of the English translation of Safranski's Heidegger biography. Indeed, I believe the word 'appalling' belongs in there somewhere.)
