This cheered me through a difficult soccer day.>
Others like myself found the day easy enough. The difficulty only arises if we
pit ourselves against the will of God.
Wales are now "The Best of Britain", soccer-wise - what's difficult about that?
But England's debacle did give rise to an oddity, possibly unique in the
history of the game and the most remarkable event of the evening (though it has
gone unremarked) - look at footage of the referee as he blows the final whistle
and watch as, immediately after, he blesses himself with an expression of
solemn relief. If it were a Dan Brown novel, this symbolism might be key to
unravelling a byzantine conspiracy where everything from Brexit to Bjork could
be traced back to a numerology developed then hidden by Giotto. Among less
far-fetched interpretations: the referee understood he had performed rites on a
"difficult soccer day" that truly the Lord had made.
