Quite the rabbit hole you provided. I liked the sound of the name Gugelhupf,
which is one of the recipes given. And then I wanted to know how a Gugelhupf
differs from a Bundt. Someone else added to that question a Rodon. Here’s the
answer:

Note the absence of any reference to the German Confederation, created by the
Congress of Vienna in 1815, which I thought gave the Bundt cake its name.
So I went in search of further information about the word bund or band, which
apparently comes from Persian, and has come to be associated with the strands
of embankments. Thus there is a Shanghai Bund and a Yokohama Bund.

Since this was threatening both to develop into a “Carry On” and be time
consuming, I stopped at that point quite suddenly, like a punt running into a
bund.
