Lovely.

We’re celebrating Burns this coming Saturday.  Drop over.

Thanks to everyone who has suggested, on and off-list, names for the dog.
Nothing decided yet.  We thought we might have settled on the name, “Lugs,”
which is Hamish Macbeth’s other pet.  (He too has a cat named Sonsie;  Macbeth
is the star of a mystery series we like).  Then I mentioned this to my father,
who said that’s what Scottish kids call someone with sticky-out or otherwise
funny ears.

Someone sent this historic list:

I like Fuddle.

We have apparently lengthened the word to “befuddle.”

Bruce is not going to work.  Don’t know why.  Not in keeping with the other pet
names, so probably not right either.  It might be amusing to call a dog Nuggin,
as in Terry Pratchett’s, “That is an abomination unto Nuggin.”

David Ritchie,
Sunny Portland.
